Supreme stay on survey in Shahi Eidgah adjacent to temple in Mathura

Amaravati: The Supreme Court has stayed the petitions filed to conduct a scientific survey of the construction of Shahi Eid next to the temple in Mathura where Lord Krishna was born in Uttar Pradesh. Advocate Ranjana Agnihotri from Lucknow filed the case in 2020. It is alleged that the mosque was built on a disputed land of 13.37 acres. It was argued in the petition that the Katra Keshav Dev temple is there, and that the prison where Krishna was born is located in this place. 9 petitions have been filed in Mathura district court on the above matter. The petitions are pending for a long time. Then transferred the petitions from the Mathura District Court to the Allahabad High Court. In December 2023, the High Court bench conducted an inquiry. Permission to conduct a scientific survey in the Shahi Eidgah under the supervision of the court and permission to appoint an advocate commissioner to supervise the survey. Muslim organizations approached the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court.
A bench comprising Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta, which heard the petition, stayed the order of the High Court. It has been clarified that the process of conducting the survey should be stopped immediately. Notices have been issued to Hindu communities regarding the survey. The Supreme Court has made it clear that the investigation regarding the Shahi Eidgah survey will continue in the Allahabad High Court.
