The Center has no objection to setting up a committee for investor protection-Solicitor General

Amaravati: The Center has said to set up a committee on the Adani-Hindenburg (short selling company) case. Speaking on behalf of the Centre, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta made it clear that the Center has no objection to setting up a committee for the protection of investors during the hearing of the petition filed in the Supreme Court on the Adani Companies dispute. CJI Justice DY Chandrachud told the bench that SEBI is monitoring the matter. Responding to the Centre’s explanation, the judge directed the Solicitor General to submit the names of the committee members to the court by Wednesday. The case was adjourned to February 17 for further hearing. Hindenburg accuses Adani Group of stock manipulation, accounting fraud (short selling company). In this order, petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court to direct the Center to form a committee headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court.
